Neuromuscular Diseases

Neuromuscular diseases are those that affect the muscles of the body and or face and/or the peripheral nerves that supply the muscles. In general, problems with the nervous control may cause either muscle weakness and wasting or hypotonia, depending on the location and the nature of the problem. A large proportion of neurological disorders lead to problems with movement.

At CPNI, Paediatric Neurologists are highly trained to investigate and diagnose the range of neuromuscular disorders and offer comprehensive treatment. We provide advice on early intervention and guidance in choosing available programs that may significantly improve the long term outlook in these conditions. Our consultants collaborate closely with the expert teams at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics to assist in the provision of the diagnosis and management plan.
